Even Dora realizes maps are important!
Dora the explorer uses a map to find her way around in every thing she does.
Maps can show us all types of things like weather, political boundaries, travel paths, and economic resources. When utilized in the classroom, maps can do so much more than just teach where things are located. A terrific example of using maps is when teaching how America has been under the rule of several different countries in its history.
Just within the past 150 years the break down of America and its territories have changed tremendously, as you can see from the above images.
Maps should also be taught to help students become more aware of themselves and the world around them.
Maps in the Classroom
Maps are a very important tool to be used in a classroom. This blog is meant to help people understand why maps are so vital to the classroom.
